The M1 240mm howitzer entered production in 1942and first saw action at the Anzio beachhead. A total of 315 howitzers were produced, equipping 15 battalions in the European theatre and 5 in the Pacific. The M1 saw deployment during the Korean conflict and remains in service with Taiwan and the Philippines.
