The armies of ancient Egypt were at their height during the 18th, 19th and 20th dynasties when Egypt battled for control of the Levant with the Canaanites, Mitanni and Hittites. This is the period associated with Ramesses, Tutankhamun and the heretic pharoah Akhenaten.

Skirmishers could be Egyptians or any subject race, including Nubians, who were likely to be bow-armed. Slingers were often Arabs. Though cavalry scouts are an option in the army list, the capability of these early horsemen was yet to reach potency. The NeArin was an elite unit of chariots that fought at the battle of Kadesh.
