A workhorse freight car from the transition and early diesel eras, this 70-ton offset three-bay hopper fits squarely into coal and aggregate service across the Southeast. Seaboard Coast Line inherited large numbers of offset hoppers at its 1967 formation, combining Seaboard Air Line and Atlantic Coast Line rosters into a unified fleet that continued to serve power plants, docks, and interchange traffic throughout the system. The offset-side design reflects late 1930s1950s construction practices.
