In 1941 during World War II, a special forces unit called the Special Air Service (SAS) was created at the suggestion of Major David Stirling of the British Army. Their purpose was to penetrate deep into enemy territory in small groups and destroy aircraft at enemy airfields, as well as perform reconnaissance and rear disturbance missions. Its activities spanned a wide range from the desert North African front to the European front, and in particular, in North Africa, it made a name for itself by showing great success, such as traversing the desert and attacking the German Afrika Korps’ supply lines and airfields. The vehicle used by such SAS troops is a 4-wheel drive 1/4 ton small military vehicle that was adopted by allied countries. Due to its excellent maneuverability and high reliability, it can be used not only for communication and transportation, but also as a combat vehicle by carrying weapons. This is a masterpiece vehicle with over 600,000 units produced by the end of the war. SAS units use this vehicle with modifications such as arming it with a machine gun and installing multiple auxiliary fuel tanks. It gained a high level of trust from soldiers operating in small groups as a reliable companion in which their lives were entrusted.
